Hello,
we were thinking about how to make some kind of economy that won't break the game, but will make it more interesting and find a role for all the copper/silver/gold mines. There were few things tried on other servers and based on some ideas we propose this kind of economy. The numbers are not random, they are based on roughly estimates of the amount of available resources and active players (with enough backup of course as old players will stop and new ones will join).
We propose economy model with limited amount of coins to prevent inflation in the future, because if coins are spawned without control 1 sword will cost 1 coin tomorrow and 100 coins in 2 weeks, because there will be more and more coins in the system reducing their value. The limit for each guild should be based on the monument level as follows:
- Level 1 monument: max limit of 1 gold coin (=10 silver coins=100copper coins), exchange only copper ingots for copper coins
Level 2 monument: max limit of 5 gold coins, exchange copper and silver ingots for copper and silver coins
Level 3 monument: max limit of 35 gold coins, exchange silver and gold ingots for silver and gold coins. Minimum 4 members to get the coins
Level 4 monument: max limit of 70 gold coins, exchange gold ingots for gold coins. Minimum 5 members to get the coins
The advantages of such system are:
- avoiding uncontrolled inflation over the time
- not setting fixed prices for items (GM deals) which is opening door for free market. The prices will be regulated by the players themself based on supply and demand. If many guilds offer the same thing the prices will drop. If it's bad season some farming products will rise in value and so on.
- will force small guilds to join together instead of having one man villages IF they want to have access to more coins
- preventing big guilds from splitting to get more coins
- giving small guilds the opportunity to trade with bigger ones and speed up their development, because big guilds won't be able to exchange copper or silver for coins for example
- will make the copper/silver/gold valuable and there will be reason to mine it. There are enough mines and ore for everyone to make his coins and there will be enough deposits left for the future, but it won't be easy either
- prevents only 1-2 guilds of mining all the resources as they won't be able to exchange above their limit
1 gold coin will be 10 silver coins and 1 silver coin will be 10 copper coins to give them value too as many items will probably be traded with such coins as the gold ones won't be many and will be valuable.
The exchange rate will be based on quality. One 100q ingot = 1 coin. To make things easier there will be 5 groups only in the quality.
- 0-30 quality will be considered as 30 quality. That means ingot of 10 quality and 29 quality have the same value, otherwise it will be too hard for the admins to calculate.
- 26-50 quality will be considered as 50 quality
- 51-70 quality be considered as 70 quality
- 71-90 quality will be considered as 90 quality
- 91-100 quality be considered as 100 quality
That means if you have 1 gold ingot of 70 quality you can exchange it for 0,70 gold coins, but as that's not possible you can get 7 silver coins instead. When you bring 4 of 50 quality gold ingots you will be able to get 2 gold coins.
Only admin will make the exchanges and to make it easier for him it will be fixed time only. For example every Friday from 19:00 to 20:00 on determined place - for example GM can build bank somewhere and all players will be there to exchange for coins in the selected time.
The admin will keep excel document of how many coins he has exchanged to each guild and when they reach the maximum stop exchanging with them until they unlock a new limit (upgrade the monument). The mentioned limits are not weekly - they are permanent! If you have level 4 monument and get all 70 coins on the first exchange then you have all that you are allowed to have already and will not be able to exchange in the future. Also the limit is the maximum limit. For example if you have level 2 monument and exchange for 5 coins when you upgrade to level 3 you will be allowed to exchange up to 30 more to reach the limit of 35 and not 35 more.
Also we want to include new rule and make everything more interesting and it's also good for the role-play - forbid the trade in the global chat. Every guild can build it's own market place and announce it's prices (for example what they sell and buy in forum topic) and if you need something you will have to travel from marker to market in order to buy your stuff instead of arranging deals in the global chat.
